Purchasing Materials for the Library Collection

We are trialing a new video streaming service called Films on Demand! Please check it out and give us your feedback!

Books, Movies, and CDs

Emmanuel d'Alzon Library will make every effort to purchase materials that support our undergraduate and graduate curricula. Some departments have specific policies in place for ordering library materials. For instance, some department chairs place all orders for their department, while other department chairs allow all department members to request materials through their Library department liaison. Please check with your department chair.

To request a purchase, please submit our Purchase Request Form or contact your liaison.

Please note: As of January 2017, we no longer subscribe to Choice Reviews Online. You can still access the Choice reviews! Select Academic OneFile from the Databases A-Z page on the Library’s website to search the reviews.

How the Library Orders Materials

The Library contracts with specific book vendors to receive the best price on materials. If the item is not available for purchase through one of our vendors, we will order it directly from the publisher, association or distributor.

Books On Order and New Acquisitions

Books on order are searchable in our Library Catalog. Order information appears in capital letters, and you will see the designation "On Order" or "Received."

Once a book or movie is added to the collection, a location and call number will indicate where to find the item in the Library.
